    About the Book:
This textbook was first published in 1967 in English and then in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi has been much in use and appreciated not only by ANM Schools of Nursing-both Government and private-but also by Higher Secondary Schools for students taking the vocational course in nursing.

In 1977 the ANM course was completely revised by the Indian Nursing Council and expanded to include Sociology, Health Education, Communication Skills and other subjects necessary to equip the Multipurpose Health Worker/ANM to serve effectively as a primary health care worker in the community. Such workers are key persons for achieving the goal of "Health for All" to which we in India are committed.

This book A TEXTBOOK FOR THE HEALTH WORKER (ANM) Volume I has been revised by Miss A M Chalkley which is followed by Volume II. Volume I is about Primary/health careworking with the community and with families. Volume II is about health of the individual which contains most of the material found in the popular Textbook for Auxiliary Nurse-Midwives but it has completely been revised according to the Health Worker/ANM syllabus of the Indian Nursing Council.
