    Description

Orient Blackswan Bharatiya Bhasha Lok Sarv Nagaland (Hindi) by G N Devy

The People’s Linguistic Survey of India provides an overview of the extant and dying languages of India, as perceived by their speakers. It is the culmination of a nation-wide survey of languages, documented by linguists, writers, social activists and, most importantly, members of different speech communities. The work chronicles the evolution of these languages until 2011, and incorporates their socio-political and cultural dimensions. Critically, it encapsulates the world view of the speakers of the languages. This volume attempts to bring to the reader the wealth of languages of Nagaland and contextualises them within contemporary linguistics. The languages surveyed are: a) Tenyidie group of languages and (b) Other Naga languages, such as Ao, Konyak, Phom, etc. The content of the survey is based entirely on structural bases, mainly, phonology, morphology and syntax. In an attempt to document these varieties of languages, this volume aspires to preserve the languages spoken in the state of Nagaland in this globalised world.
