Legacy of the book

The origin of this magnificent work goes way back in 1936 when the All England Law reports were commercially published as an alternative to the official reports called “The Law Reports” published by the Incorporated Council of Law Reporting. The name was coined after the fact that all the cases of England and the legislation were cited in these reports including all cross references and hypertext links. Lexis Nexis Butterworths is the official publisher of The All England Reports. Various sets of reports have been published covering cases of different time periods. A set of reports called the “The All England Law Reports Reprint” (All ER Reprints), was published by LexisNexis UK to cover around six thousand key cases from between 1558 and 1936, when the publication of the All England series had begun. Again,
three thousand more cases between 1861 and 1935 were available in the next series, called The All England Reprint Extension, published by LexisNexis Australia.
