    Description

New Age International (P) Ltd., Publishers Carbon Nanotubes by Prof. S L Kakani, Dr. (Mrs) Shubhra Kakani

Carbon Nanotubes (CNTs) are allotropes of carbon comprised of graphene sheets rolled up into cylinders of sp2 hybridized atoms. They are nanometers in diameter and millimeters in length and have a very broad range of electronic, thermal and structural properties. Combined with narrow diameter, this leads to excellent material properties such as a high aspect ratio and large surface area. CNTs can be approximated to one-dimensional nanostructures. The properties of CNTs vary with kind of nanotubes defined by its diameter, length, chirality or twist and wall nature. Unique surface area, stiffness, strength and resilience of CNTs have led to much excitement in the field of pharmacy. The properties and characteristics of CNTs are still being researched heavily and scientists are trying to tap the potential of CNTs. Techniques have been developed to produce CNTs in sizeable quantities. In the present monograph, we have tried to cover almost each and every aspect related to CNTs. The monograph is spread in seven chapters. The monograph is intended for research scientists and post-graduate and honours students of physics, chemistry, material science, pharmacy, engineering, etc.
