Unit 1 ) Child Development and Pedagogy has been authored by Sandeep Kumar, who is working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Education, University of Delhi, and specialises in the fields of human rights education, educational psychology and social science education. Earlier, he served the state council of educational research and training (SCERT) at district institutes of education and training (DIET) as subject expert of teaching of social science. Kumar received his M Phil degree in education for his work on “research methodology with psychology for instruction” from the University of Delhi and later, was awarded a PhD by the same university for his study of school education from a human rights perspective. He has contributed many articles in different journals of education and edited several books on the subject.
Unit 2) English has been authored by Geeta Sahni, who is a former Associate Professor, Department of Education, Delhi University. She has a rich academic experience as a teacher and has taught both B.Ed and M.Ed level students. Geeta Sahni’s contribution to the field of English language teaching has been tremendous. Sahni’s main research areas are English Language Teaching and Educational Technology.
Unit 3) Hindi has been jointly authored by Sandeep Kumar, Akhilesh Kumar Gautam and Lalit Kumar. Sandeep Kumar is Assistant Professor, Department of Education at Delhi University. His interest areas include Educational Psychology, Psychology and Languages. Kumar received his M Phil degree in education for his work on “research methodology with psychology for instruction” from the University of Delhi and later, was awarded a PhD by the same university for his study of school education from a human rights perspective.
Akhilesh Kumar Gautam is working with the Department of Education, Delhi University. After pursuing an MA in Political Science, he obtained B.Ed and MEd degree from Delhi University. He has presented research papers at many national conferences. Lalit Kumar has been working at the Department of Education, Delhi University. He has obtained his M.Ed and B.Ed degrees from Delhi University. He has a flair for writing and has written many articles in journals.
Unit 4 ) Mathematics – This Unit has been authored by Haneet Gandhi, Assistant Professor, Department of Education, Delhi University. Dr. Haneet Gandhi is a Teacher Educator of Mathematics in the Department of Education (commonly known as Central Institute of Education), University of Delhi. She obtained her Ph.D. in Mathematics Education from Lucknow University, Master Degree (M.Sc.) in Mathematics from IIT, Delhi, and a Master in Education from Jamia Milia Islamia. She has been actively involved in developing resource material for mathematics teaching and learning at the primary and middle school level.
Unit 5) Environmental Studies – This Unit has been bee authored by Yukti Sharma, Teacher educator at Department of Education, Delhi University. Her areas of interest include Science Education. Her other areas of academic interest include special education, gifted education and creativity. She did her doctoral research, M.Ed. and B.Ed. at the Department of Education, University of Delhi, and is a recipient of gold medal in M.Ed. She has been invited to various science forums for interactions with teachers and was called upon to give the inaugural address at Jawahar Lal Nehru Bal Vigyan Pradarshini, 2014.
