    The book is a critical analysis of the provisions of the Commercial Courts Act, 2015 which is aimed at ushering in reforms for the disposal of commercial cases in the civil justice system. The book also undertakes a comparative study of in-pari materia provisions and cases under the United Kingdom Civil Procedure Rules, 1998. The exposition is intended to enable the reader to acquire a sound grasp of the working of the Act. The book is intended for use by the members of the Bench and the Bar as well as academics and students, who wish to gain a theoretical and practical understanding of the provisions of the Act.

    About the author
    Mr. Sharath Chandran is an Advocate practicing primarily at the Madras High Court. He graduated in Economics from the Madras Christian College with a distinction bagging the Arjun Gnanavolivu scholarship. He went on to pursue his L.L.B from the ILS Law College, Pune, where he stood first in the L.L.B examinations (Final Year) bagging two gold medals and several subject prizes. He was also awarded the best outgoing student of the College in the same year. While completing his law degree he had a stint as a research intern to the Hon’ble the Chief Justice of India at the Supreme Court. He then went on to read for the B.C.L from the University of Oxford where he obtained a distinction and was awarded the Corpus Christi Book Prize.  
    He has co-authored chapters in the book titled “Basic Structure Constitutionalism - Revisiting Kesavananda Bharati” (Eastern Book Company) (2011) with Dr. Sanjay Jain and Dr. Sathya Narayan of the ILS Law College. He is a regular contributor to the Madras Law Journal (Civil and Criminal) and the Kerala Law Journal. His areas of expertise include commercial law, arbitration, constitutional and administrative law, civil and criminal procedure. He has been appointed Amicus Curiae by the Madras High Court in several notable cases.
