The incidence of disaster is now increasing due to various factors including climate change and associated human, economic, infrastructural, and environmental losses are increasing at an alarming rate. Disasters are the biggest obstacles in achieving the Millennium Development Goals set out by the United Nations and most nations have ratified this. In India, almost every year the total loss due to disasters is approximately 2% of GDP when yearly investment by the Government of India on a very important sector: education is 4.1% of the GDP.
