    Description

Our Knowledge Publishing Discoid Meniscus In Children 2020 Edition by Khaoula Sibbou, Yassine Smiti, Chat Latifa

The meniscal bodies are semilunar fibrocartilages that are interposed between the femoral condyles and the tibial plateaus. They not only improve the congruence of the joint surfaces, but by their shape are also an important element of knee stabilization. In the literature, numerous diagnostic radiological examinations have been described for the evaluation of meniscus injuries. However, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the most accurate and least invasive method for the diagnosis of meniscus injuries. Diagnostic criteria for discoid meniscus have been studied by several authors and are variable. It is noted that in children, there are certain peculiarities. The radiological finding of a discoid meniscus does not impose its surgical treatment. Surgical treatment by total or partial meniscectomy is justified only if the discoid meniscus presents a lesion.
