This book consolidates the law relating to foreign exchange in India. The Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999 (‘FEMA’) aims to facilitate external trade and payments and promote the orderly development and maintenance of foreign exchange markets in India. Though the Reserve Bank of India (‘RBI’) exercises overall control over foreign exchange transactions, enforcement of FEMA has been entrusted to the ‘Directorate of Enforcement’.
