The book is spread in seven units. The first unit is dedicated to the basics of the computer system. It covers description of block diagram, functions and working of various components. The latest available types and varieties of different peripherals and CPUs are also elaborated. The second unit describes two major operating systems, Windows and UNIX. The third unit is about networking. The basic ideas of networking IPv4 and latest IPv6 have been described. The fourth unit is about application packages.
The fifth unit covers logic development and programming skills.
About the Author
Manaullah Abid is Associate Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. He served as a Scientist in the Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Roorkee. He became a faculty member at the Department of Electrical Engineering, JMI in 1994. He has also served at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Hadhramaout University of Science and Technology, Al-Mukalla, Republic of Yemen. He has also been a faculty at King Saud University, Riyadh and later at Prince Salman University, Al-Kharj, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. His areas of interest are parallel processing; signal processing and system analysis & simulation.
Mohammad Amjad is Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Engineering, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. He has four years of industry experience and 13 years of teaching experience. He has contributed twenty-five research papers in various reputed journals, national and international and at conferences in India and abroad like USA and China. He is actively involved in research and development activities in areas of MANET, WSN, Mobile Computing and Network.
