    Description

Christian World Imprints  Guide Book To History Of Christianity From The First To The Eighteenth Centuries by M. Thongkhosei Haokip Foreword By Prof. O. L. Snaitang

The book is an attempt to fulfill the long felt need of readers, particularly students undergoing theological training under Senate of Serampore College (University) which pioneers theological education in India and the South East Asia in line with the new curriculum of the Senate. It is a product of the author's 15 years experience of teaching the subject of History of Christianity from the first to the eighteenth century to the Bachelor of Divinity and Master of Divinity students. The book covers the history of Christianity from the beginnings to the 18th century in seven chapters. The first chapter begins with historiographical questions followed by how Christianity originates in its Judeo-Greco-Roman settings. Issues of monasticism and the relationship with Islam are discussed in the third and fourth chapter. The fifth chapter examines the important developments during the Middle Ages, followed by the sixteenth Century Reform movement in the western church. The seventh and last chapter examines the nature and growth of pietism, evangelicalism and the missionary movement.
