Digital information has promised to lead a new digital library world. The advent, rapid succession and subsequent widespread use of Information Technologies have completely revolutionized the library systems and services. The continuing new developments in IT are bringing us to a new digital era that nobody would have imagined a few decades ago. With this development, libraries are being shifted from traditional library environment to automated library environment and finally to digital library environment. In this environment, the traditional library systems and services are being replaced by new technologies such as collection development of e-resources, library automation, networking of libraries, consortia mode of acquisition,open access initiative by publishing open access journals and creating open access archiving, digital right management, creation and maintenance of digital libraries use of RFID etc. About Author : Dr Sunil Kumar Satpathy is working as the Sr. Librarian of C.V. Raman College of Engineering Bhubaneswar, Orissa. He has pased Master Degree & Ph.D. in LIbrary & Information science from Sambalur University, Orissa. Besides he has obtained MA (Pol.Sc.) DCA, Hindi Kobid (Wardha) degrees. Dr. Satpathy has profesional experience for more than 12 years. To his credit he has co-authored one book on Library Classification and has contributed more than 25 papers in different journals/Seminars publications. Mr. Chandrakant Swain is working as Librarian in Regional College of Management, Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar; Orissa. He has obtained his MLISc degree from Sambalpur University, Oriss and presently purusing Ph.D. in the same university. Mr. Swain has 15 years of experience in Library and Information Science area and presented many papers in seminars/conferences.
