This is the thoroughly revised, rewritten and enlarged second edition of the book designed to serve as a core text for the undergraduate students of pharmacy,as well as other related streams, who offer medicinal chemistry as one of their electives. The text is divided into 12 sections containing 38 chapters. Each chapter gives an introduction about the disease, classes of compounds used, their mechanism of action, and structure–activity relationship. At the end of each chapter synthesis of selected compounds used in clinical practice is given. In this edition, new facts, latest developments in various areas along with three new chapters have been added. All the illustrations, chemical configurations and molecular modeling have been modified, improved and redrawn to clarify the content.
