Thomson Reuters Patent Law Cases and Materials – A Synthesis for India 2021 Edition by Adarsh Ramanujan

homson’s Patent Law Cases and Materials – A Synthesis for India (2 Volumes) by Adarsh Ramanujan – Revised Edition 2021.

Key Features :
There has been a long-felt need for a book on the fundamental principles of ‘Indian’ patent law. Patent Law Cases and Materials is an effort in this direction. It is a no-nonsense, no-rhetoric book, focussing on the law, its interpretation and application.

The casebook format of Patent Law Cases and Materials suits practitioners and judges. It allows every reader to independently interpret and assess the implication of each case law, which forms a vital component of the practice of law. Even from an academic perspective, it provides an unfiltered view of the law, better than any unnecessary prose.

For each topic of patent law, the book provides a single point congregation of the relevant Indian provisions and extracts from relevant case laws across India, the UK, the EU and the USA. This approach is ideal for India, where jurisprudence on the subject is limited. Courts, practitioners and the Patent Office often resort to such a comparative approach to learn from the experiences of other jurisdictions.

Adarsh Ramanujan is an independent counsel, practising primarily on the litigation side. He has represented clientele in a wide range of sectors. Adarsh has been involved in/ handled disputes in diverse areas of laws, intellectual property litigation, commercial arbitrations, IBC, competition law, contractual disputes, international disputes, debt recovery and SARFAESI matters, Biodiversity laws. In his current and previous roles, he has appeared before a variety of domestic and international forums, including the Supreme Court of India, various High Courts, Tribunals, the WTO, the EU Commission, US Department of Commerce and the US International Trade Commission. He is one of the youngest persons to have xlviii Patent Law Cases and Materials represented a Sovereign Government as an arguing counsel before the WTO.
