Undergraduate medical students often face many problems to cope up with the volatile subject of pharmacology. This has motivated me to write this book. Nowadays the market is flooded with various textbooks which are just like jungle in which the students may get lost. This is my small initiative to simplify the subject. Just like an electrocardiogram or ECG summarizes about our heart rhythm, this book also summarizes the subject of pharmacology for students. Pharmacology is both, basic and applied medical science. A physician must know the basic principles of pharmacology for the rational use of drugs. Ideally if the syllabus is divided into "Must Know, May Know and Desirable to Know" parts, this book is the "Must Know" part of pharmacology. At the undergraduate level we cannot feed the students with a plethora of knowledge. Ultimately we can say that there is no substitute for reference and standard textbooks. Passing any subject with good marks is always a top priority of any medical student. Often, the students are not able to reproduce their subject knowledge in the exams, may be due to lack of proper presentation and communication skills. This book will help students to achieve their goal. The book is simple, concise, exam oriented, filled with illustrations, tables, flowcharts, summary boxes. At the undergraduate level, students must not be flooded with the dosage of each and every drug. So the dosages of selective drugs are provided. Some special chapters have been added like Drug Abuse and Dependence, Drug Prescribing during Pregnancy and Lactation, Evaluation of New Drugs, Explain Why Questions and New Drugs Section. Last, but not the least, I would like to say that no book in the world can replace a good teacher.
