The genesis of this book was nearly three years ago when there was so much upheaval and discussion about medicolegal and malpractice issues related to this speciality, especially regarding family planning issues. The authors have put together the updates to give each obstetricians and gynecologists a 'ready reckoner' to llok into it whenever there is a doubt regarding any subject of their practice. The idea about the book on guidelines struck the authors when posted as Deputy Director, Family Welfare, RCH Public Health Department Government of Maharashtra, handled important subject like medical termination of pregnancy, PCPNDT, tubal ligation and laparoscopic, recognition of clinical trainings. It was observed that there are many practical queries by practicing obstetricians and gynecologists while implementing these programmes.
