Highlights of the Book
There has been substantial jurisprudence laid down by the Hon’ble Supreme Court in the Country on Commercial Arbitration spanning over multiple statutory frameworks. There was a need to put all the significant Judgments of the Apex Court on Commercial Arbitration at one place to have a better understanding on how the law has evolved.
This work in the shape of a compendium of three volumes with Judgments spanning from the year 1988 till 2022 covering Arbitration Act, 1940 and Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 aims to achieve the above objective. Following are the highlights of the compendium:
The Judgments have been placed in ascending order beginning 1988 from Volume 1 onwards.
To facilitate easy searching and to make the compendium more useful, four types of indexes have been provided, namely, –

Section Index
Nominal Index
Year wise index.
Additionally, each Judgment is supplemented with a precise head note highlighting the ratio laid down by the Hon’ble Supreme Court in each case.
Cases have been covered under two sections namely Full Reports and Short Rulings to cover maximum number of Cases.
Apart from CLA Citation, Parallel Citation of SCC has also been incorporated to add enhanced utility to the compendium.
About the Curator
Dr. Manoj Kumar is the Founder & Managing Partner of Hammurabi & Solomon Partners, a multi-speciality top-tier law firm in New Delhi with offices across India and is an alumnus of the Harvard Business School and the National Law School of India University.

Dr. Kumar is named as one of the 100 Legal Luminaries of India by LexisNexis and also successively by the Indian Business Law Journal (IBLJ - A-List of top 100 lawyers of India) and has been ranked the best in his areas of expertise and leadership for decades by numerous global publications such as India Business Law Journal (IBLJ), IFLR1000, Asialaw Profiles, Asian Legal Business (ALB), LegalEra, the Forbes, BW Businessworld, to name a few. Notably, Dr. Kumar was conferred the prestigious Mahatma Gandhi Samman at the House of Lords, London and as an Honorary Professor of the Academic Union of Oxford, UK for business & economy.
Dr. Kumar is a distinguished author, strategist, columnist, thought leader and called upon by top-of-the-line Indian and international institutions including the World Bank, IBA, ABA, CII, SILF, SCL, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Bar Council of Kerala, Indian Law Society, Cochin Institute of International Arbitrations for contributions, counsel, discussions and training programs for arbitrators and mediators. Dr. Kumar contributed to the preparation and drafting of the rules & bye-laws for the setting up of the prestigious Indian law Society’s Centre for Arbitration & mediation and is also the past guest editor of the fall issue of American Bar Associations (ABA) India Legal News, a patron of Doctors for You (Doctorsforyou.org). Dr.Kumar also chairs the India Strategy Group, International Legal Advocacy Network, India Unites Foundation and Lexxo – a legal tech initiative.
