The Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2014 will be conducted either in April or May in 2014, across the country. It is a stepping stone for students who wish to seek admission into some of the most reputed institutes in the country, such as the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and other government funded colleges. Students need to clear the JEE Main with a high score to sit for the JEE Advanced paper to be eligible for admission into the IITs. The exam follows the syllabus prescribed by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), and tests the basic understanding of the students in subjects such as Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. This will include the syllabus covered in the 11th and 12th standards. All the three sections will have to be completed within 3 hours. The exam will consist of multiple-choice questions and there will be negative marking for wrong answers. The test will be administered both offline and online.
