Description
New Age International Adsorption and Catalysis by Solids 2nd Edition by Chakrabarty D K
The book aims at introducing the beginner to the complex, multi-disciplinary subject of heterogeneous catalysis. It discusses various aspects of adsorption on solid surfaces as adsorption is the first step in a heterogeneous catalyzed reaction. Considering its importance, one chapter has been devoted to the characterization of catalysts. Preparation and methods of evaluating the performance of catalysts has been considered in another chapter. Catalysis by metallic, semiconducting and acidic solids have been discussed separately. Some recent developments in heterogenized homogeneous catalysts has been presented in the last chapter. The book is intended to be an introduction to the basic concepts of heterogeneous catalysis and may serve as an entry point to the realm of vast scientific literature published in this area. About The Dipak Kumar Chakrabarty joined the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay in 1967 where he spent his entire professional life to retire in 1997. His research work was mostly in the areas of solid state chemistry and heterogeneous catalysis and he has many? publications in leading journals of chemistry and physics. In recognition to his contributions, the institute in 2002 conferred on him the title Professor Emeritus. Since his retirement, he has been teaching short courses in solid state chemistry and surface chemistry in several universities and the IITs. Table Of Adsorption-I?
