Though their work is indispensable for house-hold services their contribution as family labour in crop and non-crop activities is also significant. The female family labours support to the male family labours in crop activities in order to reduce the burden of labour of their-work and decrease the payment of wage-bill. The sexual division of labour in farm sector with special reference to labour intensive crops and live-stock based activities cannot be strictly applied. But the efficiency of the female labour is crop and operation specific in comparison to male counterpart. The purpose of this empirical study is to estimate the activity-wise participation of women of farm families, their level of employment and contribution to total income of the family.
