The essays focus on epistemic warrants that differ from those warrants commonly discussed in epistemology-those for ordinary empirical beliefs and for logical and mathematical beliefs. The essays center on four types of cognition warranted through understanding-self-knowledge, interlocution, reasoning, and reflection.
