A supplement comparing US and German standard designations for metallic materials enhances the applicability for the reader who is more familiar with the US standards. The title is the result of literature research and assessment, carried out by corrosion experts who have perused corrosion literature from all over the world; it contains data and, based thereupon, gives recommendations and facilitates the selection of materials for equipment in which corrosive media are handled or processed. The chemical resistance of materials depends on many factors. Small divergences in chemical composition, pressure, temperature or flow rate could result in completely different behavior of the same material in the same medium.
