    Description

Springer Head and Neck Oncology 1st Editon 2011 Softbound by Gregory T. Wolf

Where do you begin to look for a recent, authoritative article on the diag nosis or management of a particular malignancy? The few general oncology textbooks are generally out of date. Single papers in specialized journals are informative but seldom comprehensive; these are more often preliminary reports on a very limited number of patients. Certain general journals fre quently publish good in-depth reviews of cancer topics, and published sym posium lectures are often the best overviews available. Unfortunately, these reviews and supplements appear sporadically, and the reader can never be sure when a topic of special interest will be covered. Cancer Treatment and Research is a series of authoritative volumes which aim to meet this need. It is an attempt to establish a critical mass of oncology literature covering virtually all oncology topics, revised frequently to keep the coverage up to date, easily available on a single library shelf or by a single personal subscription. We have approached the problem in the following fashion. First, by di viding the oncology literature into specific subdivisions such as lung cancer, genitourinary cancer, pediatric oncology, etc. Second, by asking eminent authorities in each of these areas to edit a volume on the specific topic on an annual or biannual basis. Each topic and tumor type is covered in a volume appearing frequently and predictably, discussing current diagnosis, staging, markers, all forms of treatment modalities, basic biology, and more. Content.- I — Advances in surgical therapy.- 1. Clinical management of regional metastases.- 2. Advances in the management of paranasal sinus tumors.- 3. Advances in the diagnosis and management of neoplasms of the skull base.- 4. Surgical restoration of the voice after laryngectomy.- 5. Myocutaneous flaps in reconstructive surgery of the head and neck.- II — Advances in radiation therapy.- 6. Fast neutrons in the treatment of head and neck cancer.- 7. Chemical modifiers of radiation and chemotherapy: tumor sensitization and normal tissue protection.- 8. The role of radiotherapy in the treatment of neck metastases from head and neck cancer.- 9. Immunopharmacologic effects of radiation therapy in head and neck cancers.- 10. Cell kinetics in the study and treatment of head and neck cancer.- 11. Local hyperthermia for advanced squamous carcinoma of the head and neck.- III — Advances in chemotherapy and immunotherapy.- 12. The use of chemotherapy in combination with radiotherapy in the treatment of head and neck squamous cancers.- 13. Preoperative adjuvant induction chemotherapy in head and neck cancer.- 14. Intra-arterial infusion chemotherapy of head and neck cancer.- 15. New drug development in head and neck oncology.- 16. Tumor immunology, immune surveillance and immunotherapy of head and neck squamous carcinoma.- 17. Tumor immunity and tumor markers in head and neck cancer.- 18.
