    Description

Springer Illustrated Encyclopedia of Dermatology 2nd Edition 2012 Softbound by L. Fry, Fenella Wojnarowska, Parvin Shahrad

This book will, it is hoped, fill the gap between cur rent, smaller texts on dermatology and the standard, large reference books. It should be helpful to those embarking on a career in dermatology and to general practitioners and primary physicians with a special interest in this field. In this book the emphasis is on clinical aspects of skin diseases, and it is assumed that the reader has some knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the skin. The differential diagnosis of each disorder is extensively discussed and sex predilection and age of onset are illustrated diagrammatically. As in other branches of medicine, treatments are now frequently changing and these are fully covered. Aetiological factors in skin disorders are now becoming clearer and separate sections on this subject are discussed for each disease. Prognosis and natural history are not always adequately covered in texts on derma tology, so these topics are set out under separate headings. A small number of the illustrations have been loaned from colleagues and institutions, and we gratefully acknowledge this assistance from the following: The Wellcome Museum of Medical Science; Photographic Department, Institute of Dermatology, St John's Hospital; Dr Roger Clayton; Dr W. H. Jopling; and Dr P. Rodin. We are also grateful to the staff of MTP for their assistance in preparing this book. 1: Acanthosis nigricans.- 2: Acne.- 3: Amyloidosis.- 4: Behcet’s disease.- 5: Deficiency states.- 6: Dermatitis herpetiformis.- 7: Dermatomyositis.- 8: Dermatoses due to insects.- 9: Drug eruptions.- 10: Dyskeratotic disorders.- 11: Eczema.- 12: Endocrine disorders and the skin.- 13: Epidermolysis bullosa.- 14: Erythema multiforme.- 15: Erythrasma.- 16: Fungal infections.- 17: Genodermatoses.- 18: Granuloma annulare.- 19: Hair.- 20: Herpes gestationis.- 21: Hyperhidrosis.- 22: Ichthyosis.- 23: Lichen planus.- 24: Lichen sclerosis and atrophicus.- 25: Lupus erythematosus.- 26: Metabolic disorders and the skin.- 27: Mixed connective tissue disease.- 28: Morphoea.- 29: Necrobiosis lipoidica.- 30: Parasitophobia (delusions of parasitosis).- 31: Pemphigoid.- 32: Pemphigus and Hailey-Hailey disease.- 33: Photosensitivity.- 34: Pigmentary disorders.- 35: Pityriasis rosea.- 36: Pruritus and prurigo nodularis.- 37: Psoriasis.- 38: Purpura.- 39: Pyoderma gangrenosum.- 40: Pyogenic infections.- 41: Reiter’s disease.- 42: Rosacea.- 43: Sarcoid.- 44: Scleroderma.- 45: Self-induced dermatoses.- 46: Skin tumours (benign) and naevi.- 47: Skin tumours (malignant) and parapsoriasis.- 48: Striae.- 49: Topical steroids.- 50: Toxic epidermal necrolysis.- 51: Treponemal infections.- 52: Tropical infections.- 53: Tuberculosis of the skin.- 54: Urticaria, angio-oedema and dermographism.- 55: Urticaria pigmentosa.- 56: Vasculitis.- 57: Venous stasis and ulceration.- 58: Viral infections and AIDS.
