Jaypee Brothers Medical Publishers Infertility Diagnosis, Management & Ivf by Anil K Dubey

The overall layout is in a tradition similar to many preceding infertility texts. The book begins with an introductory historical section followed by 3 sections on male factor, female factor, and in vitro fertilization. Beyond these standards, there are 4 somewhat unique sections that represent timely trends in reproductive medicine to include practice guidelines, births defects, regulatory issues, and emotional and social aspects of infertility. The male factor section (chapters 3–7) is among the most comprehensive of the book. Hormonal management and immunology sections are traditional; however, the genetics sections are particularly effective in addressing recent changes in this rapidly changing field. The female factor section (chapters 8–18), though mostly traditional with short chapters on common fertility disorders, contains strong areas on the molecular basis of female fertility disorders, female reproductive aging, and ovarian reserve testing. The IVF section (chapters 19–30) contains details on the IVF laboratory procedures that will be helpful to IVF laboratory directors and support people trouble-shooting technical problems and laboratory pitfalls. Chapters 17 and 18 on reproductive aging and ovarian reserve testing are timely. Chapter 26 on preimplantation diagnosis and screening is also timely, as it contains a great deal of new information on molecular genetic technology relevant to problems in fertility management. Conspicuously absent are sections on emerging topics of oncofertility and fertility preservation. There is a chapter devoted to natural cycle IVF, but very little in this chapter is devoted to the emerging technology of in vitro maturation.
