Cassava is a staple crop that is important for food security in the tropics. Cassava is native to South America, but it is grown throughout the tropics and subtropics. Cassava has been called “the drought, war, and famine crop” because it can be grown in challenging conditions and it can be harvested when needed, providing a reserve of food in times of war and famine. Improvements in cassava yield, quality, and sustainability could be important for food security in order to fulfill the need of increasing human population.
This book comprises research addressing the issues in areas like breeding and agronomy, managing and controlling the range of diseases affecting cassava as well as post harvesting methods.
