Description
Orient Blackswan Interface by Ashok Chaskar
Interface: English Literature and Language brings to undergraduate students a composite textbook, comprising elements that have traditionally been taught as two separate entities literature and language. By compiling both these components together, the authors have tried to give students a better insight into learning the language and hope that the language skills learnt in the literature class are transferred to real life situations. The literature section not only includes literature from Britain but also the works of postcolonial and American writers with the intention of enlarging their worldview. The collection includes essays, short stories, poetry and one-act plays. Each text is preceded by a brief introduction to the writer and the theme and followed by a glossary and exercises, to enable the learner to engage with the text. This anthology is unique in that it also includes language units, such as the characteristics and functions of and language as also an introduction to phonetics. This book marks a new direction in teaching English at the undergraduate level and is expected to benefit students greatly.
