Information theory is concerned with the problem of how to measurechanges in information or knowledge content. It is based on thefact that we can represent our experience by the use of symbolslike the alphabet, pictures, etc. But since the establishement ofclassical information and communication theory in the 1940's nobody has succeeded in stating a geneal definition of the concept ofinformation. As a result of the common place definition whereinformation is seen as the opposite to noise, or as non meaning isomitted. About Author : John Jacob passed his Msc. in computer science from MadrasUniversity in Tamil Nadu. Jacob later got a training in the use ofcomputers in Chicago in U.S.A.
