The text book has been primarily prepared to meet the needs of a student who is studying Mathematics in the first year of a University course in various disciplines. At the same time it is hoped that the material will provide a good foundation for the student who plans to do more specialised work in university mathematics, especially in the subjects physics, chemistry and mathematics itself. Some or all of the topics may also be useful to students who are preparing to join an undergraduate course in university or who are taking various college diploma courses in Engineering, Agriculture and other related disciplines. The chapters aim to cover most of the topics which a student will need at an introductory level in statistics, probability, algebra, trigonometry, coordinate geometry and calculus at university level.
All efforts have been made that the subject matter in each Chapter flows in a natural way. The concepts have been explained in a very lucid way. The problems have been graded in each chapter.
