The COVID -19 pandemic has devastated the whole economy, social fabric and the life of poor, migrants and marginalized workers. Though the migrant workers have returned to their native place, it is daunting task to provide them suitable job as a large chunk of labours and migrant workers are unskilled. The Central and State governments are no doubt striving for creating suitable business and policy environment for migrant workers, however, job opportunities are limited while agriculture sector has already absorbed for additional employment and employment avenues under MNREGA are overexploited; hence, states are looking towards MSME sector for large employment opportunities for migrant workers. Keeping in view the same this book has been prepared. It gives a holistic overview about the migrant workers. The book also focuses on their vulnerabilities, highlights the social security and welfare measures taken for them during COVID-19 pandemic and suggests policy recommendations for effective implementation of schemes and programmes related to migrant workers. It is expected that this book will be highly useful in understanding the dynamics of migrant workers for the policy makers, educators, scholars and those who are interested in the subject.
