My Journey Home is the story of a young Haitian man's experience as a Haitian American and explores his reflections on the growth that resulted from seeking an understanding of Haiti's rich history. Deciding to make his first trip to Haiti with a volunteer program, Baudelaire faces the dilemma of how he can use his privileges as an American, to help those who are in need in the country his parents emigrated from. My Journey Home is the story of Baudelaire's return to the country in which his ancestors fought for their freedom, and the self-discovery that only such a journey can bring.
