This book comprises of five chapters. The first chapter covers historical perspective of art, its origin and meaning. Chapter two explains the impact of European style on Indian art. Chapter three covers the re-establishment of Indian art through western methods and techniques. Chapter four reflects on renaissance of Indian spirit in Indian art. Chapter five concludes the book with due emphasis on the various facets of Indian art during British period. About the Author Dr. Monika Srivastava is currently working as Professor at A.P. Sen Memorial Girls' PG College, University of Lucknow, Lucknow. She joined in 2003 as a lecturer. She graduated in History, Anthropology and Economics and did her PG and Ph.D from the Department of Western History, University of Lucknow, Lucknow. She also worked as a guest faculty for Post Graduate classes at the Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow. She has, to her credit, in excess of fifty published papers on History, History of paintings, Art of Painting and Social and Economic Development in many national and international journals and magazines. She has also contributed chapters in many books. She has the distinction of holding the rank of Captain as Associate NCC Officer, responsible for running NCC activities in the college. Besides imparting knowledge to the students, she is also spearheading some very important administrative responsibilities of her college.
