Hence, this book is based on the latest phylogenetic information and principles involved in their classification. All efforts have been made to include current and relevant information for the benefit of students. This text book is a result of years of authors' involvement in the teaching and research activities in Mycology and Phytopathology.Salient features of this book include:• Simple language for easy assimilation of knowledge.• Some rare groups, such as Loculoascomycetes, Trichomycetes and Laboulbeniales discussed.• General characteristics, differences, ecology and importance of fungi given in a tabular form or listed for easy reference.• Profusely illustrated with photographs, photomicrographs, line diagrams (416 figures) and also includes a coloured plates section (comprising of 121 coloured pictures).• A unique section, Interesting Reading, dealing with controversies, curiosities and new developments in the fungal world included to expand the scope of mycology and to sustain the interest of the readers.• Mini Glossary at the end of each chapter providing handy definitions of the technical terms.• A comprehensive Glossary in the appendix, detailing the origin of the words and their meanings.• Review Questions at the end of each chapter.• Flow charts of classification followed in the past and the modern systems listed in the appendix.• Chronologies of major mycological discoveries listed in the appendix.About The Author:Inderjeet Kaur Sethi is an Associate Professor of Botany at SGTB Khalsa College, University of Delhi, India, since 1975.
