Description
CRC Press The Control And Stimulation Of Follicular Growth by Shaw R W
The control of follicular growth and oocyte maturation has been known for a long time to be mediated by the gonadotrophins luteinizing hormone and follicle stimulating hormone, but their exact role in this control has remained unclear. Furthermore, purified and biosynthetic gonadotrophin preparations, together with growth hormone augmentation, have now been introduced to clinical practice as therapeutic options. This book is a clarification of the recent advances that have been made in the areas of follicular growth and oocyte maturation. It consists of the contributions from scientists and clinicians to the 5th International Workshop on Reproductive Endocrinology, held in Bristol in 1992. Aspects were discussed under the main headings of pathophysiology, simulation of ovarian function and complications of therapy. As such, the book is an account of current and potential future progress in this field.
