He received his Ph. D. (1970) from University of Delhi, while collaborating with Late Professor T.R.Seshadri, FRS. He worked as Post doctoral Fellow with Prof.W.Klyne, FRS (London), Prof. D H R Barton, FRS, Nobel Laureate (Imperial College, London), Prof. Richard W.Franck, FACS (Fordham University, NY, USA), Prof. Gerald A Salen, NJ, USA and at Reproductive Biology Deptt., AIIMS, New Delhi and Patel Chest Institute, Biochemistry Deptt., Delhi University, Delhi. He visited Giffu University, Japan. He was visiting Professor at Kabul University, Afghanistan under UNESCO Programme for faculty improvement. His main interests in research have been in synthesis of natural products and biologically important compounds. He, very successfully completed synthesis of antibiotics- tetracycline, olivomycin aglycone and molecules playing importan
