The central theme of Basic Microwave Engineering concerns the basic principles and applications of Microwave Transmission Lines, Waveguide Components, Microwave Tubes, Microwave Solid State Devices and Microwave Measurements. The scope is governed by the revised syllabus prescribed for the subject by Jawahar Lal Technological University (JNTU) Hyderabad for III year B.Tech. ECE-II Semester students. The book is organized into 11 chapters. The topics included in Unit 1 of the syllabus are discussed in chapters 1 and 2. Chapter 3 describes Circular Waveguides and Microstrip Lines. Chapter 4 treats Cavity Resonators and Reentrant Cavities. Chapter 5 describes Waveguide Components and Application 1 as per Unit III and topics, included in Unit IV have been discussed in chapter 6. Chapters 7, 8 and 9 describe Microwave Tubes—Klystrons, Helix TWT and M-type Tubes (Mangerons) respectively. The topics included in Unit VII of the syllabus—Microwave Solid State Devices are discussed in chapter 10. Basic Microwave Measurements are explained in chapter 11, which is Unit VIII of the syllabus. The book has been written in a simple language that can be understood by undergraduate students in Engineering, coming from different background.
