Dr Ramakrishnan was the President of the Association of Surgeons of India and the Association of Pediatric Surgeons of India. He was a Fellow of the National Academy of Medical Sciences, a Member of the British Association of Pediatric Surgeons and had many national and international presentations and publications to his credit. He was an excellent teacher, dextrous surgeon, a mentor and father figure to generations of pediatric surgeons who were trained by him. He was truly a doyen of pediatric surgery in India.
