The electromagnetic phenomena has been elegantly and compactly described in vector notation. Since the study of electricity and magnetism needs a good understanding of vector calculus, for which a detailed treatment is given in the appendix.
All electromagnetic quantities are expressed in SI units.
Emphasis has also been given on the development of the basic laws of electromagnetic phenomenon: Gauss's law for electrostatic field, Gauss's law for magnetostatic field, Ampere's law and Faraday law of electromagnetic induction and the well known Maxwell's Electromagnetic Field Equations, the propagation of electromagnetic waves in dielectric and conducting media. Poynting Vector are discussed in chapter 11. The reflection and refraction of electromagnetic waves at the interface of two media and theory of dispersion have been discussed in chapter 12. A large number of solved examples is given at appropriate places in every chapter.
